Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. I worked with leftover chili for this recipe which I heated in a medium sized, covered pot set to medium low until warmed through properly. I linked the recipe in case you'd like to make a batch from scratch in advance, or even the day of. Alternately, you could use a can of your fave chili and adjust the amount of kaiser rolls you need. Just make sure the chili is warmed up properly prior to assembling.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 F
  3. Using a sharp, serrated knife, cut the center out of the kaiser rolls and pluck that out. Use your hands to pinch out as much bread as you can to create a bowl out of the kaiser rolls. Keep one hand on the outside of the bread bowl and one on the inside, working around the bowl, push your hands together to press the edges of the bowls in for extra space inside. Once they're hollowed out, get them on a parchment lined baking sheet. Divide your chili between the hollowed out bread bowls. Divide your aged cheddar between the bowls, 1/3 c each, followed by the aged marble. Lay a couple slices of jalapeno on each bowl.
  4. Bake at 350 F for 15 - 20 minutes until cheese is melty and bowls are slightly golden and crisp around the edges. Remove your tray to a wire cooling rack for a few minutes. Serve each bowl garnished with a dollop of sour cream, pinch of salt & pepper, and some green onions. ENJOY!

Notes

  • Keep some of the bread you tear out from the kaiser rolls in case you rip or tear too much bread from the bowls. You can use the bread as glue and press it into spots that have ripped or exposed.
  • The chili was estimated as I neglected to measure it.
