This cozy creation transports me back to my visits to Keste in NYC, where they craft amazing gluten-free pizzas, including a dreamy Nutella-stuffed pizza dough dessert! I just love the cozy combination of warm, gooey Nutella nestled in soft dough, finished with a kiss of powdered sugar. This homemade version is simple to make using refrigerated gluten free pizza dough for convenience (my go-to is the one from Trader Joe's). I love my air fryer and use it several times a week - hands down one of my top go-to kitchen gadgets for easy cooking! Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Begin by dividing the pizza dough into small portions, about 12 pieces, and flattening them into circles. Ensure they're not too thin to prevent the dough from breaking but also not too thick.
  2. Place about 1/2 tablespoon of Nutella in the center of each dough circle. Then, carefully seal the dough around the chocolate to form a ball. Pinch the ends together and roll it between your hands to make it round, ensuring it's uniform. Be mindful not to roll the dough too thin to prevent it from opening up during cooking. Also, ensure all parts of the Nutella are properly sealed to prevent leakage or exposure to direct heat while air frying.
  3. Once you've formed all the dough balls, spray the outside of each one with avocado oil spray to promote even browning.
  4. Air fry at 350°F for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket gently a few times for even cooking. Check around the 6-minute mark to adjust for your preferred doneness, as cooking time may vary by size and air fryer model. The dough naturally has a chewy, dense texture, so expect that! If the bites seem undercooked, cut them in half and air fry for a few more minutes until done!
  5. Once cooked, remove the dough bites from the air fryer. While they're still warm, generously sprinkle them with powdered sugar coating.
  6. Enjoy your delicious nutella stuffed dough bites while they're warm and gooey!

Notes

Make sure to seal the dough tightly all around to keep that gooey center intact. I usually like to test one bite first to adjust the dough thickness and ensure they stay sealed when air frying. Depending on your dough size, you may get more or fewer bites, but this recipe is based on using Trader Joe's refrigerated pizza dough. Just remember, if the Nutella gets exposed, it can harden, so sealing is key for that perfect gooeyness, while also ensuring the dough isn't rolled too thin to prevent it from opening.
