These microwave cookies are so quick and easy to make! This recipe takes only a few minutes in total. The cookies come out soft, gooey, chocolaty, and sweet. They are the perfect simple dessert for any occasion!

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds until completely melted.
  2. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk to the melted butter. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add the flour to the bowl. Mix until fully incorporated and smooth.
  4. Fold int he chocolate chips into the cookie dough.
  5. Take a small microwave-safe plate and lightly grease it with cooking spray or butter.
  6. Drop cookie dough by the spoonful onto the greased plate. Place a few inches apart. The cookies will spread as they cook, so leave enough room between them.
  7. Place the plate in the microwave. Cook on high power for 60 to 90 seconds. Cooking time will vary depending on the wattage of the microwave. Keep a close eye on the cookies.
  8. The cookies are done when they look set. Do not overcook them.
  9. Remove the plate from the microwave carefully. Allow cookies to firm up as they cool down.
  10. Enjoy warm and gooey cookies! Garnish with sea salt if desired.

Notes

Use just the egg yolk, not the whole egg. Allow enough room between the dough balls. They will spread as they cook. Each microwave is different. Check the cookies after 60 seconds. Add more time as needed. The plate may be hot. Use oven mitts. Store the cookies at room temperature for up to 3 days.
