Tamari-Braised Shredded Brisket
This tamari-braised shredded brisket is slow-cooked until tender, juicy, and packed with rich, savory flavor. The US Wellness brisket is seasoned, seared, and then gently braised with onions, Jozo barrel aged tamari, and beef broth until it falls apart with a fork. The result is deeply flavorful shredded beef that’s incredibly versatile and easy to make.
Serve it piled onto sandwiches, tucked into tacos, or spooned over rice bowls for a comforting, crowd-pleasing meal. This is a mostly hands-off recipe that’s perfect for cozy dinners, meal prep, or feeding a group.

- Preheat the oven to 325°
- Season both sides of the brisket evenly with the meat & potato seasoning blend.
- Heat a Dutch oven over medium heat and add the olive oil. Sear the brisket on both sides until deeply browned, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce the heat slightly and add the sliced onion to the pot. Sauté until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the tamari and let it simmer briefly, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
- Return the brisket to the pot and pour in the beef broth. The brisket should be mostly submerged.
- Cover with a lid and transfer to the oven. Cook for 4–5 hours, or until the brisket is very tender and easily pulls apart. Check after about 2 hours and add more broth if needed to maintain liquid in the pot.
- Remove the brisket and shred with two forks — it should fall apart easily. Return the shredded meat to the braising liquid and stir to coat.
- Serve on toasted rolls, in tacos, or over rice bowls. This brisket is rich, savory, and works with just about anything.
