This time, skip the cheese. These decadent dessert quesadillas are coated in cinnamon sugar on the outside and stuffed with fresh ripe strawberries, Nutella, and mini marshmallows. The result is an insanely delicious after-dinner treat that’s indulgent enough to satisfy your sweet tooth but easy enough to whip up on a lazy Friday night in. If you're looking for something even a little more chocolate-forward, check out our fudgy double chocolate brownie cookies.

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Place the tortilla onto a cutting board or other surface and spread the butter in a thin, even layer on top of it.
  2. Mix together cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle it evenly over the butter. Pat it lightly into the butter so that it sticks.
  3. Flip the tortilla over so that the cinnamon sugar side is facing down. Spread chocolate hazelnut spread all over the exposed side of the tortilla.
  4. On one half of the tortilla covered in chocolate hazelnut spread, sprinkle the diced strawberries, then the marshmallows. Fold the half of the tortilla not covered in strawberries and marshmallows over the strawberry marshmallow half, creating a half moon shape.
  5. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Place the quesadilla into the pan and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, then carefully flip the tortilla over using a long spatula. Cook it for another 3 minutes on the second side, or until the chocolate spread and marshmallows are slightly warmed through and the cinnamon sugar is lightly caramelized on the outside.
  6. Slice the quesadilla into 4 pieces and dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use diced strawberries instead of sliced. Diced strawberries stay inside the quesadilla better. Pat the diced strawberries dry before using them. This helps keep the quesadilla from becoming too wet from the fruit. Prepare as you go. This recipe makes 1 quesadilla, but if you’re making more, wait to assemble it until you’re ready to cook it or the strawberries will leak out too much juice onto the chocolate hazelnut spread. Don’t overcook it. Keep the temperature of the cooktop no higher than medium-low or medium or you’ll risk burning the cinnamon sugar coating. Cooking the quesadillas longer than a few minutes on each side make the cinnamon sugar taste bitter.
