This homemade 3 ingredient mug cake is soft, fluffy, and moist! The Nutella adds the most delicious chocolate hazelnut flavor. This recipe takes just 5 minutes to make. Great for a quick and easy snack or dessert!

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp All Purpose Flour
  • 3 Tbsp Milk, (you can use any you prefer - cow's, almond milk, etc.)
  • 2 Tbsp Nutella, (or any other chocolate-hazelnut spread)

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Take a microwave-safe mug and lightly grease the inside with some non-stick cooking spray or a little butter.
  2. Add the all-purpose flour to the mug.
  3. Pour in the milk.
  4. Add the Nutella or chocolate-hazelnutspread.
  5. Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly with a fork or spoon until you have a smooth and consistent batter. Make sure there are no lumps left.
  6. Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for about 1 minute. Cook in additional 10-second increments as needed. The cooking time may vary depending on your microwave's power. Keep a close eye on it to avoid overcooking, as the cake may become dry.
  7. The mug cake is ready when it has risen and looks firm on top. You can insert a toothpick into the center to check if it comes out clean, indicating that the cake is fully cooked.
  8. Carefully remove the mug from the microwave (it will be hot!) and allow the cake to cool for a minute or two before digging in
  9. You can enjoy the mug cake as it is or add some toppings like a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, or a few chocolate chips for an extra treat.

Notes

Do not use self-rising flour. Use all purpose flour, gluten free flour, or cake flour. Any type of milk works well. Nutella adds a great flavor! If needed, use creamy peanut butter instead. All microwaves are different. Check your mug cake after 60 seconds. It may need up to 2 minutes. I recommend not making this ahead of time. It will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days, but it is much better fresh.
