- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper or grease well.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and whisk in the brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Whisk in the cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until fully combined. The mixture will be thick.
- Stir in the vanilla. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the batter is smooth and shiny.

- Fold in the unsweetened chocolate.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
