Ghost meringues (Edit recipe)

These Ghost meringues are the perfect halloween treat! They're easy to make and super cute.

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Preheat the oven to 225°F and line a large baking sheet (or two smaller ones) with ungreased parchment paper.
  2. Using a stand mixer, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar on high speed. Add the sugar 1 tbsp at a time and whip until the mixture is stiff and easily holds its shape.
  3. Add the mixture to a large piping bag with a large tip (I used a wilton 1A tip) and pipe onto the baking sheet. I like to do one larger squeeze at the bottom, and a smaller one at the top, slowly pulling away at the end. Repeat with all of the meringues.
  4. Transfer to the oven and bake for 1 hour. The meringues should easily pull away from the baking sheet. Turn off the oven and allow to sit in the oven for another hour.
  5. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
  6. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil together in 20-second intervals in the microwave until melted.
  7. Using a tooth pick, dip it into the melted chocolate and draw eyes and a large open mouth onto each ghost meringue.
  8. Allow the chocolate to set, and enjoy!!
