Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Make the dinner roll recipe as directed, dividing into 18 equal portions, cover with plastic wrap and set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 400° and line either two 8”x 8” baking pans with parchment or one 13”x 9” pan.
- Roll out one dough ball into an oblong oval shape on a lightly dusted surface, approximately 7½ - 8” long. Sprinkle with a bit of the seasoning. Then, starting from just inside the bottom edge, use a pizza cutter to cut strips vertically ¾ of the way up, leaving the top ¼ uncut.
- Place one half of a cheese stick on the top uncut portion of the dough and roll the cheese up inside the dough, starting at the top & rolling to the bottom. Carefully pick up and place in the prepared pan, seam side down, placing it diagonally in the corner. Repeat with remaining dough balls, placing each roll at an angle to till up the pan, working your way to the other corner.
- Cover and let rise for 15 minutes. Remove covering and apply egg wash. If using sesame seeds, kosher salt and spice blend, sprinkle on top of each roll.
- Place in a preheated oven and bake for 22-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and while warm, slather on butter if using.
- Enjoy!
Notes
See notes on DINNER ROLL recipe for dairy free options. // You can use a dairy-free/vegan cheese to stuff these rolls as well, haven't tried it, but could work well. // Placing the rolls diagonally in the pan is a fun way to bake them up, but not necessary.
