Paleo Chocolate Dessert Waffles (Edit recipe)

Dessert waffles are so dreamy and pili nuts in the batter makes them even dreamier. The pili nut is a rich, buttery tree nut that is wild harvested from deep within the Filipino rain forest, and a nut you won't soon forget! Check out Pili Hunter (the original) here! Stack a few, add a scoop (or two) of your favorite ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate and you’ve got a super fun dessert. Perfect party food and possibly a throwback to the 70’s? We see a WAFFLE BAR in your future, where party goers can assemble their own. Make a bunch up ahead of time, make sure their cool and then freeze. Dessert prep DONE!

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Add waffle ingredients to a high speed blender in the order listed and blend until all the pili nuts are ground up smooth – you should have a very nice batter once it’s all done. Little thicker than a cake batter.
  2. Heat up your waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer's directions. We like to top our waffles with a few more chopped pili nuts before closing the lid! Adds the perfect texture to the waffle.
  3. As waffles finish, keep them warm on a rack in your oven (set to warm) as you make the rest of them, this helps keep them stay crispy.
  4. Serve by topping with your favorite ice cream, add a chocolate drizzle and fresh fruit, or your favorite flavor combo!

Notes

You'll have approximately 3 cups of batter. Depending on your waffle iron, you should get 4 round 9" waffles, which can easily accommodate dessert for 6 people. // Typically once the waffle iron stops steaming, the waffle is done, around 3-4 minutes. Times may vary depending on your waffle iron.
