3 Ingredient Mug Cake
This homemade 3 ingredient mug cake is soft, fluffy, and moist! The Nutella adds the most delicious chocolate hazelnut flavor. This recipe takes just 5 minutes to make. Great for a quick and easy snack or dessert!
Ingredients
- 4 Tbsp4 Tbsp4 Tbsp All Purpose Flour
- 3 Tbsp3 Tbsp3 Tbsp Milk, (you can use any you prefer - cow's, almond milk, etc.)

- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Nutella, (or any other chocolate-hazelnut spread)

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Take a microwave-safe mug and lightly grease the inside with some non-stick cooking spray or a little butter.
- Add the all-purpose flour to the mug.
- Pour in the milk.
- Add the Nutella or chocolate-hazelnutspread.
- Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly with a fork or spoon until you have a smooth and consistent batter. Make sure there are no lumps left.
- Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for about 1 minute. Cook in additional 10-second increments as needed. The cooking time may vary depending on your microwave's power. Keep a close eye on it to avoid overcooking, as the cake may become dry.
- The mug cake is ready when it has risen and looks firm on top. You can insert a toothpick into the center to check if it comes out clean, indicating that the cake is fully cooked.
- Carefully remove the mug from the microwave (it will be hot!) and allow the cake to cool for a minute or two before digging in
- You can enjoy the mug cake as it is or add some toppings like a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, or a few chocolate chips for an extra treat.
Notes
Do not use self-rising flour. Use all purpose flour, gluten free flour, or cake flour. Any type of milk works well. Nutella adds a great flavor! If needed, use creamy peanut butter instead. All microwaves are different. Check your mug cake after 60 seconds. It may need up to 2 minutes. I recommend not making this ahead of time. It will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days, but it is much better fresh.
