Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- For homemade Nutella:preheat the oven to 200C. Spread the hazelnuts across a baking tray and bake for 6-8 minutes or just until they begin to brown. Remove from the oven and carefully rub them with a paper towel to loosen their skins off. Don't worry if all the skins don't come off.
- In a food processor or high powered blender, blend the nuts until they have turned to butter. You might need to keep stopping to stir everything back into the center but just be patient, it can take 10-15 mins. Then add all other ingredients except milk and blend until smooth. Slowly add the milk, until you get the right consistency of Nutella.
- Nutella star wreath: Preheat the oven to 180c fan assisted. Sprinkle some flour on your workspace
- Unroll one piece of puff pastry and spread a thick layer of Nutella on top of it. Unroll the second piece of puff pastry and place this on top, pressing down everything together.
- Use a star cookie cutter to press out the star shapes. Try place them as close together as possible.
- Place a plate or circular pizza tray on top of a piece of parchment paper. Draw around the edge of the plate, then cut out the circle so that you have a perfect circle to arrange the stars.
- Place the circular baking paper on a baking tray and arrange the stars following the circle edge, making them overlap slightly. Using a pasting brush, lightly brush the stars with soya milk.
- Bake in the oven for 15 mins until golden. Carefully remove and decorate
Notes
To avoid waste spread the remaining cut out bits of Nutella pastry across a baking tray and bake for 15 mins. Store in a jar and enjoy over the next few days
