This combo still has my tastebuds all up in happy town! Thought I'd made some toast and top it with the textures and flavors of all things Dubai Chocolate--it was a grand idea! I used a pistachio "cream" (see note) from Peppertux Farms. I flavored my shredded phyllo dough with the Primal Palate Cinnamon Sugar Cookie blend.

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Add the butter to a small pan over medium heat, melt then add in the shredded phyllo dough and stir to coat. Sprinkle on the sugar blend and stir again to evenly coat the phyllo. Stir on occasion as it toasts and becomes a golden brown, then remove from the heat and spoon out onto a small plate to cool.
  2. Toast your sourdough slices to your desired "brown-ness" - I typically like mine on the toastier side so that the toppings don't make it soggy right away.
  3. Spread the hazelnut spread evenly onto each piece of toast, adding more or less depending on the size of your slices.
  4. Add the toasted/cooled phyllo shreds to a small bowl, spoon in the pistachio cream and stir to fully combine. Spread half on each slice of toast carefully over the hazelnut spread.
  5. Sprinkle half of the chopped pistachios on top of each piece of toast. If you didn't use roasted/salted pistachios, you can also add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt to cut through some of the sweetness.
  6. Enjoy right away!

Notes

There are a variety of different pistachio butters and creams, but choose wisely and read the labels. Butters are typically only ground pistachios, so tasty, but not sweetened. The brand I used here is a "cream" and is slightly sweetened. So if you're using a butter vs a cream you may need to stir in a bit of honey or maple syrup before using if you want it a bit sweeter. The shredded phyllo I used is called "kadayif" and can be found on most online markets.
