- Mix all the marinade ingredients in a large mixing bowl: sesame oil, soy sauce, shallot, ginger, sriracha, lime, parsley, and cilantro. Set aside.
- Cut ahi tuna steak into small ¼" cubes with a sharp knife. Try to keep the cubes as uniform as possible. Place cubes into a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, add the peeled and pitted avocados, minced red onion, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Mash together with the back of a fork to the desired consistency. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Slowly pour the marinade mixture over the cubed tuna. Gently mix until the marinade is incorporated into all the tuna cubes.
- Assemble with avocado mash on the bottom of the bowl or plate and top with tuna.
- Garnish with cilantro and or sesame seeds, served with wonton crisps, and ENJOY!
Notes
Try stacking your ahi tuna and avocado for that restaurant-style look.
-
Grab a round cookie cutter or a metal ring mold. Place it in the center of your serving plate.
-
Start with the avocado mash. Spoon it into the mold and press down gently with the back of your spoon so it forms a firm, even base.
-
Layer on the tuna. Add the marinated tuna cubes on top of the avocado, again pressing lightly so the layers stay neat but not squished.
-
Carefully lift the mold straight up. Voilà — a clean, stacked appetizer.
-
Garnish with cilantro, sesame seeds, or microgreens for a final touch.
