Hatch Green Chile Turkey Burgers with Fresh Pineapple Salsa
Hatch green chile turkey burgers are easy to make and have a delicious flavor. Made with roasted hatch chiles and finished off with fresh pineapple salsa, these burgers are perfect for the end of Summer.
Ingredients
Fresh Pineapple Salsa
- 3 cups3 cups3 cups Pineapple, approximately 1 medium pineapple
- .5 whole.5 whole.5 whole Bell Pepper, medium, diced
- .5 whole.5 whole.5 whole Red Onion, medium, diced
- 1 whole1 whole1 whole Jalapeño Pepper, medium, minced
- .25 cup.25 cup.25 cup Cilantro, fresh chopped
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Lime Juice, approximately 1 lime
- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp Kosher Salt
Hatch Chile Burgers
- 1.5 lb1.5 lb1.5 lb Ground Turkey
- .333 cup.333 cup.333 cup Fresh Hatch Green Chile, diced, peeled and seeded, approximately 4-5 medium chiles
- .333 whole.333 whole.333 whole Yellow Onion, medium, grated
- 2 tsp2 tsp2 tsp Cumin, Ground
- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp Thyme, Dried
- 1.5 tsp1.5 tsp1.5 tsp Kosher Salt
- .5 tsp.5 tsp.5 tsp Black Pepper, ground
- 6 whole6 whole6 whole Hamburger Buns
Process
Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
Fresh pineapple salsa
- In a mixing bowl, combine pineapple, bell pepper, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, lime juice and salt together.
- Mix together until all ingredients are combined and let it sit in the refrigerator while you make the turkey burgers.
Grilled turkey burgers
- In a mixing bowl, combine turkey, chiles, onion, cumin, thyme, salt & pepper. Mix by hand until ingredients are well incorporated.
- Divide meat mixture in 6 equal portions and roll into balls. Flatten balls into approximately one inch thick patties and slightly press down the middle of each patty. Place burgers in the refrigerator on a large plate or sheet pan while the grill heats up.
- Preheat the grill to medium high heat and rub the grill grates with a paper towel with oil on it to grease it.
- Grill the burgers for 8 minutes on the first side and then flip and cook an additional 4 minutes on the other side until the burgers reach internal temperature of 165° when checked with a kitchen thermometer.
- Allow the burgers to rest for 5 minutes after grilling and then serve on buns topped with fresh pineapple salsa.
