  1. Preheat the broiler in the oven on high and line a sheet pan with parchment paper, foil or a silicone liner.
  2. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place cut side up on the prepared sheet pan.
  3. In a small bowl combine the butter, cheese, garlic and parsley and mix until thoroughly combined.
  4. Spread the butter and cheese mixture evenly on both cut sides of the bread halves.
  5. Place the bread under the broiler and cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese and butter are melted and lightly browned.
  6. Slice the bread into pieces and serve.

Notes

Bread - A soft loaf of Italian or even French bread works best. A crustier, heartier loaf of sourdough or ciabatta bread will also work, but will make chewier pieces. Cheese - Italian cheese blend is a great cheese to add to the topping for this bread. Shredded mozzarella or provolone will also work. Spicy - Add ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the butter and cheese mixture. Dried Herbs - Instead of fresh, 1 teaspoon of dried parsley or Italian seasoning can be used. Leftovers - Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days and reheat in the microwave or under the broiler in the oven.
