Remember in the 90s when mom would just dump a bunch of packets and cans of stuff over the pot roast in the slow cooker? The house would smell amazing and just like that, dinner is ready whenever someone utters the first dreaded, "I'm hungry!". Well, I wanted that, but like - healthier, cleaner ingredient. This is not a perfect ingredient pot roast, but it's a whole heck of a lot better than what I grew up with! So cheers to this new generation dump roast! I couldn't call it that in the title though or no one would probably want to make it....

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Sear your roast on all sides in a cast iron or stainless steel skillet. Salt and pepper generously as you go. You want to lock in the flavor, not so much cook it, so use med-high heat to do so quickly.
  2. Place the roast in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. Sprinkle entire Primal Palate French Onion Packet over the roast and exposed bottom of slow cooker.
  4. Dump the can of soup directly on top of the roast.
  5. Fill the soup can 1/3 with water and add contents of the Bare Bones Beef Bone Broth packet to the water and whisk with a fork or handheld frother. Once mixed, fill the can the rest of the way with water and add to the bottom of the slow cooker.
  6. Cook on high for 4 hours.
  7. Flip the roast. Sprinkle onions over the slow cooker evenly. Add potatoes around the roast.
  8. Cook on high for 2 more hours.
  9. Serve hot and don't forget to douse your plate with gravy from the bottom of the slow cooker!

Notes

Seriously worth contacting Amy at Bachman Family Farms to specify you'd like a bone-in arm roast. This was the best pot roast I've ever made and I loved having the bone in there because I mixed the marrow into my kids meat so they got a multivitamin with their meal.
