White Cheddar n’ Chive Biscuits
I’ve loved biscuits since I was a very small girl! Adding white cheddar cheese and chives is next level, adding a kiss of some savory notes. There are many recipes/ways to make biscuits as well as the ongoing debate of–“isn’t this actually a scone?” Honestly depending on which side of the pond you live on, you're going to get a different opinion! I think we can all simply agree on one thing, biscuits are comfort food, regardless! Need a gluten free version, I got you! These are my G/F Cheddar n’ Chive Biscuits!
Ingredients
- 2 cups2 cups2 cups All Purpose Flour, I use an organic local brand
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Baking Powder
- .75 tsp.75 tsp.75 tsp Redmond Real Salt
- .5 - .75 cup.5 - .75 cup.5 - .75 cup White Cheddar Cheese, grated
- 1 - 2 Tbsp1 - 2 Tbsp1 - 2 Tbsp Chives, fresh, finely diced
- 1.5 cup1.5 cup1.5 cup Heavy Cream (Whipping Cream), plus additional for brushing tops
- .25 - .5 tsp.25 - .5 tsp.25 - .5 tsp Kosher Salt, optional
Process
Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Preheat your oven to 450° - line a standard baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Add flour, baking powder, salt, cheese and chives into a medium sized mixing bowl, toss together with your fingers until well combined with the cheese and chives equally dispersed.
- Pour whipping cream into dry ingredients and mix gently until well incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
- Place dough on a lightly floured work surface and shape/press into a rectangle that is at least 1-1¼” tall. Use a biscuit cutter and cut into desired shape. You should get approximately 5-6 biscuits. TIP: If you’re using a circle cutter, press down but do NOT twist it. Same if you use a knife to cut them, do NOT use a sawing motion. You want ONE cut down, tapping the cutter as needed to release the biscuit.
- Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, 2” apart. Brush tops of each biscuit with more cream and a little sprinkle of kosher salt if desired.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let them sit for just a few minutes, then enjoy! I like to add some butter and a drizzle of hot honey!
