Fresh string beans coated in a salty and savory soy sauce makes for a great side dish, especially for chicken or fish. It's hard not to eat them all right from the pan! If you're gluten free, just be sure to use your favorite gluten free, low sodium soy sauce in this recipe.

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Trim any stems off of the beans. The more narrow ends can stay intact, but you'll want to remove the woodier stems.
  2. Sauté your string beans until soft in a little olive oil and/or a little water.
  3. Once the string beans soften, reduce heat to low, then start to add in a few tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce a at a time. Slowly add in a little bit more as needed until you are happy with the amount. Give the beans a good toss.
  4. Let the string beans cook in the soy sauce for a couple of minutes, then sprinkle in your sesame seeds and toss again.
  5. If desired, add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste, give it a final toss then enjoy!

Notes

This recipe can easily be made with frozen or regular fresh green beans - the French-style green bean isn't required! There will already be a nice saltiness from the soy sauce, but you may want to add a pinch of salt and pepper at the end, too!
