A Whole30-Compatible Brunch Everyone Will Love

Brunch: Our Favorite Six-Letter Word

A collaboration featuring recipes and tips from Pesto & Potatoes, Penny’s Primal and Real Food with Altitude

They say you’ll know if someone is doing Whole30, because it’s all they’ll talk about – and for good reason. Real, whole food is delicious, and this menu of options brings together flavors that will have guests talking for days.

1. Make a Mocktail: While some guests might be fine with water and black coffee, it’s fun and festive to make a sparkling summer mocktail. We suggest this Cucumber Jalapeño Cooler from Reed at Pesto & Potatoes.

2.  Choose Your Mains: Frittatas and quiches are great centerpieces for a brunch gathering, because you can prep ahead and serve them fresh out of the oven or slightly cooled. Penny from Penny’s Primal offers these two variations to star as the centerpiece – Mushroom & Shallot Quiche and this Tuscan Frittata, which is stuffed with ground beef and veggies.

3.  Offer More Than Eggs: A simple fruit salad, a bagel spread for those non-Whole30ers or even a few cold cuts can be appealing to guests who aren’t egg eaters. Of course this Dairy-Free Yogurt Parfait from Hayley at Real Food with Altitude is the perfect addition, and you can even serve it up in stemware and use it as a colorful add-on to your décor.

4.  Pick a Side: This summer standout, Roasted Asparagus with Shredded Eggs, will really impress your guests. Plus, the Lemon Mustard Vinaigrette from the recipe makes extra – so you can toss that with some seasoned, chopped greens and get two sides for one to feed the crowd.

5.  Sharing is Caring: Whether you want to welcome guests with a shareable platter or offer one more dish to the options, there’s no going wrong with these Loaded Breakfast Fries. Crispy sweet potatoes serve as a base that’s piled with turkey bacon and whatever veggies your heart desires.

Now that you have your menu planned, here are a few more tips to glitz up your Weekend Brunch:

Pick an arrangement of seasonal flowers from your garden to create a rustic, summer centerpiece. Don’t have flowers of your own? Buy the bargain bundles at your grocery store and channel that inner Martha Stewart.

Dust off the fine china and pick out some pretty linens. You’re probably storing some lovely heirlooms or classic pieces, and there’s no better time than right now to put them to use. Add some fancy glassware to the mix – perfect to serve mocktails or layer up your parfaits.

Make note of your guestlist. Take time to make handmade place cards with fun little messages written inside. A favorite quote, shared memory or something historical (the origin of that person’s name) will be an added touch that makes them feel right at home.

Never let ’em see you sweat. You’re hosting a summer Whole30 brunch, because you want to see your guests. Putting a little time in the days leading up to your meal – set the table the night before, make a thorough shopping list using Food Social and don’t be afraid to ask your partner or one of the guests for a little assistance. Someone is always willing to jump in and help.
