Butter Rice
Who knew rice could taste this good with just three ingredients? Say hello to Butter Rice — quick, cozy, and crave-worthy!
This is the first dish I learned to cook as a child by watching my dad, who often made it at dinnertime, and so would my grandmother. With only three ingredients, this dish soon became my favorite growing up. To this day, I often make it as it is the perfect side dish to most of my dinners. It’s my go-to comfort dish when I’m alone and not in the mood to cook. What can I say? I’m not perfect, but this dish always hits the spot.
Ingredients
- 3 cups3 cups3 cups Basmati Rice

- 4 Tbsp4 Tbsp4 Tbsp Butter, Unsalted

- 1 cup1 cup1 cup Peas, Frozen

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Bring a pan of salted water to a boil.
- Add the peas and bring the water back to a boil. Add rice and cook until firm to the bite. Drain.
- Return the rice to the cooking pan, add the butter (less if you wish), mix well, and serve hot.
Notes
- If you eat rice often and do not know how to store it, a great friend taught me this excellent trick. Add unpeeled fresh garlic cloves to the rice and store away. This method will prevent little flies/bugs from taking up residence with your rice, and you ultimately will need to toss it into the garbage.
