General Tso’s Chicken (Gluten Free)
This is one of my absolute favorite Asian dishes. I don’t always make rice but you can if you like. If you’ve never tried General Tso’s then you must add this to the rotation. It is full of flavor and only as much heat as you want to add. It’s so good you will be happy you tried it. Don’t let the list of ingredients freak you out. The ingredients are simple and the steps are straightforward. Just follow along and all of a sudden you have an amazing meal.
Ingredients
Sauce
- .75 cup.75 cup.75 cup Chicken Bone Broth, or chicken broth

- .25 cup.25 cup.25 cup Coconut Aminos
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Sweet Chili Sauce
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Honey

- 1 clove1 clove1 clove Garlic, minced

- .5 tsp.5 tsp.5 tsp Ginger, Ground

- 111 Chili Peppers, Sichuan if you can find them, minced
Chicken
- 222 Chicken Breasts, Boneless Skinless, cut into 1” pieces

- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

- .33 cup.33 cup.33 cup Arrowroot Powder
- .5 tsp.5 tsp.5 tsp Sea Salt

- .5 tsp.5 tsp.5 tsp Black Pepper

- 222 Eggs
Vegetables
- .5.5.5 Onion, any color, diced
- 222 Carrots, diced
- 111 Bell Pepper, any color, diced
- 1 head1 head1 head Broccoli, cut into small florets
Slurry
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Arrowroot Powder
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Chicken Bone Broth

Topping
- 111 Green Onion (Scallion), sliced thin

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- In a small bowl add the sauce ingredients together and stir to combine. Set aside.
- In another small bowl add the arrowroot powder, salt, and pepper.
- In a third small bowl beat the eggs.
- Put the oil in a pan on the stove on medium heat.
- In an assembly line fashion, roll the chicken pieces in arrowroot flour mixture then dip into eggs to coat.
- Put into pan to cook. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until done. Remove and put on a plate.
- Add more oil if necessary and add vegetables to pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Stir periodically.
- Add sauce and stir.
- Add chicken back to pan and then pour in slurry. Stir and let cook until sauce is thickened.
- Dish up and top with scallions.
Notes
You can use whatever vegetables you like. I try to add 3-4 different vegetables and about 4 cups total.
