Want to eat chocolate without all the guilt? 👇🏼 🍫 Often my friends ask how do we stay fit when we’re constantly eating chocolate. I’m happy giving my kids sugary foods as long as it’s a) in moderation and b) made with real, clean ingredients that we can pronounce and understand. 🍓 A great way to increase the nutritional content of a sugary snack like chocolate is to add fruit + nuts/seeds to boost the fiber, vitamins, protein, and healthy fats of the snack. It’s a win-win for both mama and kids. 🌳 Bookmark this recipe for Valentine’s Day, Tu B’Shevat (or Earth Day!) or an early spring activity!

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt your chocolate chips and coconut oil together and stir until smooth (you can either do this on the stovetop or in the microwave).
  3. For the tree: Line 4 pretzel sticks up next to each other and using a spoon, coat with chocolate. Use a spoon to create branches with your chocolate (make it thick so it won't crack once solid). Decorate the bottom with graham crackers and the top with assorted dried fruits/nuts/seeds to resemble a tree with hanging fruit.
  4. For the flowers: Take a pretzel stick and coat in chocolate. Add a dollop of chocolate at the top. Decorate with a blueberry in the middle and strawberry slices surrounding it.
  5. Take another pretzel stick and coat in chocolate. Add a dollop of chocolate at the top. Decorate with a sunflower seeds in the middle and blueberries surrounding it.
  6. Take another pretzel stick and coat in chocolate. Add a dollop of chocolate at the top. Decorate with a pumpkin seeds in the middle and sliced apricots surrounding it.
  7. Freeze for 30+minutes until the chocolate hardens, and enjoy!
