Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls (Edit recipe)

These Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls are the perfect Saturday morning treat. They are easy to make and call for super simple ingredients. The most important ingredient is that sourdough starter, so make sure your starter is fed and ready to go! These cinnamon rolls are similar to burger kings mini ones and have a texture that reminds you of pecan rolls. They’re not your typical cinnamon rolls but they are perfect!

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. In a mixing bowl, add your starter, flour, honey and water. Mix together. Cover with a clean towel and let it sit on the counter for 6-8 hours to let the dough rise.
  2. Once the dough is ready, Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and grease a baking pan.
  3. Flour your surface. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out into a rectangle shape. Roll until it’s a thin layer. Spread the melted butter on top and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Roll the dough to form your “log” of cinnamon rolls. Using a knife, cut .5 inch to 1 inch thick pieces. Set in baking pan.
  4. Place pan in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. You want the dough to be just a tad underdone to give it the perfect texture.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool.
  6. Whisk together the powdered sugar and almond milk. Drizzle icing over cinnamon rolls. Enjoy!
