Spiced Apple Butter
Tis the season for apple butter! This apple butter recipe blends together two brilliantly blended spices of apple and pumpkin pie. Apple butter is definitely a midwest classic and it is one of those recipes that you definitely crave once fall arrives. I think my favorite thing to do is toast up a fresh slice of sourdough bread and then spread one this delicious apple but and enjoy. Soooo Tasty.

- Peel, core, and slice your apples and place in your crockpot

- Pour over your apples and then toss your apples to coat each slice evenly
- Add your vanilla bean, then cover and set crockpot to low and cook for 10 hours
- Remove lid and your vanilla bean and blend your apples together with an immersion blender
- Once blended until smooth slice your vanilla bean open and scrape the seeds into your apple butter and cook on low for an additional 2 hours.
- Turn off your crockpot let apple butter cool and jar. Oh yeah... enjoy!!
Notes
If you do not have any vanilla beans you can substitute with vanilla extract. Also there seems to be 2 schools of thought when it comes to dieting which apples to use. Some people choose a more tart apple like Granny Smith honey crisp. I tend to prefer a sweeter apple like gala, or fuji. Feel free to experiment and make your own decision.
