3-Ingredient Chocolate Cherry Hand Pies
So easy & tasty, these 3-ingredient, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free chocolate-cherry hand pies are the perfect simple treat for Valentine’s Day, or any day you want to make a fun & delicious treat for someone you love. Definitely kid-approved.
Ingredients
- 2 whole2 whole2 whole Pie Crust, Refrigerated, From box of 2; ready-to-bake pie crusts (for 9-inch pies)
- 10 - 12 Tbsp10 - 12 Tbsp10 - 12 Tbsp Cherry Pie Filling
- 2 - 2.5 Tbsp2 - 2.5 Tbsp2 - 2.5 Tbsp Bitter-Sweet Mini Dark Chocolate Chips (Bulk) - Pascha
Process
Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Preheat oven to 400°. Line large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll one pie crust. Use a 4.5-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut 5 hearts. Arrange hearts in a single layer on prepared baking sheet, spaced at least 1-inch apart.
- Unroll second pie crust. Use 4.5 inch heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut 5 additional hearts. Then use 3.25-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut 5 smaller hearts out of the middles of these 5 larger hearts. Use a 1.5-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut 5 small hearts out of the leftover scraps of pie crust.
- Spoon about 2 tbsp cherry pie filling over pie crust hearts on baking sheet, leaving a 1/4-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle mini chocolate chips over cherry pie filling.
- Place remaining 5 large pie crust hearts (with heart cut-out shape in middle) over the top, lining up edges.
- Arrange smaller pie crust hearts over tops of assembled hand pies.
- Use fork to crimp and seal pie crust edges.
- Bake on middle rack or oven for 12-14 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and filling is bubbly. Serve warm or at room temperature. Makes 5 heart-shaped hand pies.
Notes
Dairy-free. Egg-free. Nut-free. Store leftover hand pies in a single layer in refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can be reheated in oven, or served cold or at room temperature.
