My mom, Lynne, makes a lot of iconic recipes. Some I have already shared, like her Summer Pasta, cucumbers, and more - but this one takes the cake (no pun intended). Cloud is one of those desserts that everyone knows about - if you know my family, you know about Cloud. Our family and friends ask for the recipe, request it to be made, and mention it often. It has served as birthday cakes, holiday desserts, and more. My mom is letting me share it with you all now! We hope Cloud becomes a part of your family, like it is ours. MY MOMS MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: stick to the brands. It makes a difference!

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Bake your Duncan Hines Devils Food Cake in a 9x13 pan according to package instructions. Let cool.
  2. Once cooled, cut the cake into 1in cubes. My video on instagram shows how we do it.
  3. In a large bowl, add the 2 Jello Instant Chocolate Pudding packets and whole milk.
  4. Using a hand mixer, beat until smooth.
  5. In a 6-Quart Trifle bowl, add cake pieces in 1 flat layer on the bottom.
  6. Add 1/3 of the pudding in a smooth layer over the cake.
  7. Add whipped cream in a smooth layer on top of the pudding.
  8. Add some crumbled oreos.
  9. Repeat these steps for 2 more full layers. By the end, you'll have 3 layers of: cake, pudding and cool whip.
  10. You can add the rest of the oreos on top!
  11. Keep in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
  12. Enjoy!

Notes

Lynne strongly suggests using the same classic brands she does. We did try to make cloud on a snowy day one time using different brands when we couldn't find hers, and it did taste different. My personal favorite way to eat cloud is to add a couple spoonfuls to a bowl or plate and mash it together. It sounds strange, but all of the flavors blend and I love the texture!
