Cranberry Spice Simple Syrup (Paleo) (Edit recipe)

A delightful syrup for all your holiday mocktail/cocktail or festive meals! The cranberry flavor shines here with a kiss of cinnamon and clove. All the holiday flavors and sweetened with only honey. Don’t toss out the cranberries after you strain them. You now also have an AMAZING cranberry sauce to dollop on all the holiday things and baked goods!

Ingredients

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Add all ingredients to a medium sized saucepan and stir to combine. Bring to a slow boil over medium low heat, then immediately reduce to low. This will boil over easily, so don’t walk away from it. Simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the liquid is a deep red.
  2. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve set over a heatproof bowl. Do NOT press the cranberry solids, otherwise you will have a “sauce” instead of a syrup. Be patient and let it drip for a minute or so.
  3. Let the syrup cool slightly then pour into a glass container and refrigerate until chilled.
  4. Possible uses: add to sparkling water for a festive holiday mocktail or to your favorite spirit for a fun cocktail - drizzle over ice cream - warm up and drizzle over holiday waffles - stir into or drizzle over yogurt for a tasty topper - so many possibilities.

Notes

Don’t discard the cranberries after you strain them. These are amazing to use as a cranberry sauce or addition to baked goods. Use as you would the standard cranberry sauce.
