Crispy Fried Fish Sandwich
These Fried Cod Sandwiches are made with marinated cod deep fried to the perfect crisp and sandwiched between two kaiser buns..oh and how can I forget the tangy slaw? Some people like Cornichons and some don’t so play around with toppings or just make the fried cod and eat it with fries!
Ingredients
For the fish
- 4 pieces4 pieces4 pieces Cod, filets, room temperature
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1 pinch1 pinch1 pinch Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 cup1 cup1 cup All Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup1/4 cup1/4 cup Cornstarch
- 12 oz12 oz12 oz Beer, (non alcoholic works too)
- 444 Kaiser Rolls
- 4 cups4 cups4 cups Canola Oil, (or any high heat oil)
- 161616 Pickles, (cornichon)
For the slaw
- 2 cups2 cups2 cups Cabbage, or coleslaw mix
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Coarse-Dijon Mustard (Noble Made)
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Raw Sugar
- 1/4 cup1/4 cup1/4 cup Cilantro, chopped
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- To make the slaw; add all ingredients to a bowl and season to your liking.
- Prepare a pot for deep frying.
- Season the fillets with salt and pepper and put aside.
- In a shallow bowl, add the flour,cornstarch, smoked paprika,cayenne pepper, garlic powder and S+P.
- Add in the beer and mix until smooth.
- Make sure the oil is hot before dipping the fish in and fry until golden brown. Place in an oven rack until all the fish are done.
- Heat a skillet and roast the insides of the brioche.
- Smear some Dijon mustard on the buns, place the fish on the bun first then add the coleslaw and pickles.
- Enjoy!!
