Lemon Ginger Bone Broth
I absolutely love broth - I love to sip on it, use it for soups (obviously), cook my rice and quinoa in it, etc. There are so many benefits for skin, energy, gut health & more! I normally buy broths in store but I grew up eating and drinking homemade broth. I recently tried making my own and could not believe how quick and easy it is! I thought it had to simmer all day, but honestly, mine was ready in 4 hours. The best part is that you can play around with making broth. You really don't have to follow a recipe! If you're looking to start somewhere - here is my broth recipe with inspiration from my mom!
Ingredients
- 2 whole2 whole2 whole Marrow Bones, Beef
- 4 whole4 whole4 whole Chicken Thigh, Bone In and Skin On - US Wellness Meats
- 4 whole4 whole4 whole Chicken Wings
- 3 whole3 whole3 whole Carrots, trimmed and cut into thirds
- 5 whole5 whole5 whole Garlic, cloves, sliced thin
- 3 whole3 whole3 whole Celery, trimmed and cut into thirds
- 2 whole2 whole2 whole Lemon, cut into quarters
- 1 whole1 whole1 whole Onion, trimmed and peeled, quartered
- 1 whole1 whole1 whole Ginger Root, sliced into 4-5 pieces
- 1 bunch1 bunch1 bunch Parsley
- 1 bunch1 bunch1 bunch Dill, Fresh
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp White Vinegar, Distilled
- 1 gallon1 gallon1 gallon Water
Process
Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Clean and trim all of your ingredients that need to be prepped (carrot, celery, onion, garlic, ginger.
- Add all ingredients to a large pot or a stock pot.
- Turn on high heat and bring contents of the pot to a boil.
- Lower to a simmer.
- Let simmer for 3-4 hours, or until you start to see fat or pieces of the chicken or marrow rise to the top.
- Let cool. Once cool, skim the fat off the top of the broth.
- Drain the broth into a large bowl and transfer into a glass container, or mini containers to freeze in.
- Store in refrigerator for 3-4 days, and then freeze for up to 3 months!
