- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- In a large bowl cream together butter and sugars for 5 minutes(you can use a stand mixer or hand mixer)
- Add in eggs one by one until fully mixed
- Next combine vanilla bean paste, maple syrup and oil into the bowl
- With a sifter sift all the cocoa powder into the wet ingredients, mix thoroughly so there aren't any pockets of dry powder
- Lastly, slowly add in flour and baking powder and fold this in with a spatula
- In a 2.75qt / 9x 9 clear baking dish spray it with light oil then line it with parchment paper
- Pour brownie ingredients into the baking dish
- On a cutting board take half of a hersheys symphony bar and chop into square pieces
- Place the pieces onto the top of the brownie mixture
- Press the candy squares gently into the batter not fully engulfing them
- Bake in the oven for 35-45 minutes. You can turn the oven off and allow it to cook for an extra 5 minutes to get the crispy edges and ensure the middle is cooked
- Allow this to cool and top with flakey sea salt
- Cut into 9 even squares and enjoy
Notes
If you like very sweet brownies you can increase the white granulated sugar by 1/3c. I really wanted the cocoa to shine which is why I decreased the sugar in the original recipe.
