Grandma’s Spicy Chicken Curry
Prepare tender chunks of authentic moist South Indian Chicken Curry in a rich tomato-based sauce with use of our seasoning mix. You’ll fall in love with it!!
Ingredients
- 3 lb3 lb3 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Thigh, cut into 3/4-1" cubes (or chicken breast)
- 1/2 cup1/2 cup1/2 cup Plain Yogurt
- 4 Tbsp4 Tbsp4 Tbsp Olive Oil, divided for marinating and cooking chicken
- 1 cup1 cup1 cup Red Onion, diced small
- 1/4 cup1/4 cup1/4 cup Green Bell Peppers, deseeded and diced small (preferably same size as onions)
- 1/2 cup1/2 cup1/2 cup Cilantro, washed and roughly chopped
- 1/2 Tbsp1/2 Tbsp1/2 Tbsp Jalapeño, deseeded and diced small (optional)
- 1.5 cups1.5 cups1.5 cups Tomato, diced (or 1 14.5oz can)
- 2 tsp2 tsp2 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1/2 cup1/2 cup1/2 cup Water
- 10 oz10 oz10 oz Frozen Vegetables, or fresh, great for extending the meal
- 111 Grandma's Spicy Chicken Curry Seasoning Kit - Anar Gourmet Foods, (1 seasoning spice mix includes marinade spice blend for marinating meat and sauce spice blend to make the sauce)
- 3 Tbsp3 Tbsp3 Tbsp Coconut Milk, unsweetened (optional, for milder slightly sweet version)

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
Prepare Marinade
- Mix Step 1 spice packet with yogurt and 1 Tbsp olive oil.
- Pour marinade over chicken and mix well.
- Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
Prepare Sauce and Cook Chicken
- Heat 3 Tbsp olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions till golden brown for 5-7 mins.
- Halfway through add bell pepper and jalapeño.
- Turn heat down to medium low, add Step 2 packet for 2 mins; sauté till spices stick to onions.
- Add tomatoes, mix well and soften for 5 -7 mins.
- Add marinated meat, cilantro and water, mix well.
- Cover pot tightly with lid, bring to boil, turn heat to medium low and cook for 30-45 mins till chicken is cooked.
- Add unsweetened coconut milk (optional)
- Add lemon juice, mix well and turn off stove within 2 mins.
Notes
Serve with rice, naan or turmeric infused coconut rice for a truly decadent experience. Repurpose leftovers as a spicy chicken wrap.
