Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a separate pan, place the four Lottie’s links in about 1/2 inch of water in a saute pan on medium-high heat. Cover the pan and cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. After 5 minutes, remove the lid, turn the sausage, and let the remaining liquid evaporate. Once the liquid is gone, the sausage will begin to caramelize, giving it a nice golden-brown color and a satisfying "snap."
  4. Once caramelized, remove the sausage from the pan and slice it. (Optional: You can return the slices to the pan for an additional quick sear if you'd like extra crispiness.)
  5. Prepare the Sauce: In a new pan, pour in the marinara sauce and heat it over medium-high until warmed through. Once the marinara is hot, reduce the heat slightly, stir in the heavy whipping cream, and add chili flakes to taste. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes to thicken.
  6. Combine Pasta, Sausage, and Sauce: Add the cooked penne and sliced sausage to the pan with the sauce, stirring everything together to coat evenly. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Season and Serve: Taste and season with salt and pepper if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan (if using).
