Matcha Overnight Oats with Chocolate Shell
These matcha overnight oats are the perfect make-ahead breakfast with all the health benefits of matcha green tea! Complete with a chocolate magic shell for the ultimate dessert for breakfast experience. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and a handful of simple ingredients. These oats provide an energizing start to your day or make a delicious midday snack!
Ingredients
Matcha Overnight Oats
- 0.333 cup0.333 cup0.333 cup Rolled Oats
- 2 tsp2 tsp2 tsp Chia Seeds
- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp Matcha Green Tea Powder, use 1 heaping tsp for stronger flavor
- 0.333 cup0.333 cup0.333 cup Soy Milk, or other non-dairy milk
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Almond Milk Yogurt, or other non-dairy yogurt (I used unsweetened vanilla)
- 2 tsp2 tsp2 tsp Pure Maple Syrup, or sweetener of choice; adjust to taste
- 0.5 tsp0.5 tsp0.5 tsp Vanilla Extract
Optional Add-in
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Vanilla Protein Powder, about 1 scoop
Chocolate Shell
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Dark Chocolate Chips
- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp Coconut Oil
- 1 pinch1 pinch1 pinch Sea Salt, flaky

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- In a bowl or jar, combine all ingredients for the overnight oats and, if using, vanilla protein powder. Stir well until thoroughly mixed. Cover and place in the fridge overnight or at least 4 hours.
- When ready to serve, check for desired thickness - stir in a couple tablespoons more soy milk if desired. If using protein powder, the overnight oats will be thicker.
- Add chocolate chips and coconut oil to a small bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Pour and spread over the overnight oats. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes, or until chocolate has hardened. Crack the chocolate shell and enjoy!
Notes
Store covered in the fridge, with or without the chocolate shell, for up to 5 days.
