Pan Roasted Apple Ginger Compote (Gluten Free, Vegan, Top 9 Free, Refined Sugar Free) (Edit recipe)

These amazing pan roasted apples are perfect for the fall and winter months when apples are in abundance. Can you use a different apple variety? Yes! Use what’s available to you, but also what you enjoy. A sweet leaning apple, such as Fuji, might be too sweet for this recipe. Tart apples, such as Granny Smith, could be fun if that’s your jam. A middle of the road apple is what I suggest, as to not overwhelm the palate.

  3. Add your cooking oil of choice, and once it's hot, add the diced apples.
  4. Cook for 12 - 15 minutes and stir as needed to prevent burning/sticking. Don't over mix, as we want some colour to develop.
  5. Next, add the Part 2 Ingredient (maple) and mix it into the apples.
  6. Cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Now, add the Part 3 Ingredients (spices). Mix everything together very well.
  8. Continue to cook for 7 - 10 minutes.
  9. Turn the heat off and set aside.

Notes

This recipe can be used standalone, or used as part of the assembly for the Apple Ginger Cake Recipe. Corn Free: Source safe raw materials, including the spices. Apples should no be waxed. Additionally, omit the maple extract. AIP Paleo: Use a safe-for-you vanilla product and omit the maple extract. GAPs & SCD: Use a safe-for-you liquid sweetener of choice, and omit the maple extract. You can pull back on the liquid sweetener a bit if it's too strong for you. Low Histamine: Swap the vanilla extract for 1.5 tsp ground vanilla, and omit the maple extract.
