These paleo bars are reminiscent of old school baking, a simple cake with a homemade frosting. You will love the fall flavors. It will remind you of grandma’s baking. Gluten free and grain free, a healthier version of an old favorite.

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly oil a 8x8 glass baking dish. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl add the flours, baking soda, spices, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. In a small bowl add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and using a large whisk stir well.
  5. Pour into the baking dish and bake for 28-30 minutes.
  6. Bars are done when a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let them cool completely.
  8. Make the frosting by sifting the powdered sugar into a medium bowl.
  9. Add the remaining ingredients and blend with a hand mixer (or stand mixer) on low.
  10. You may need to adjust powdered sugar or add a bit of milk to get it to your desired consistency.

Notes

These bars can easily be modified by adding 1/2 cup of chopped nuts or chocolate chips.
