- Rinse the broccolini under cold running water. Since the whole plant is edible, there's no need to trim anything.
- Fill a pot with a small amount of water and place a steamer basket inside. Cover the pot and bring the water to a boil.
- Arrange the broccolini in the steamer basket and steam for about 5 minutes, until tender but still slightly crisp.
- Transfer the steamed broccolini to a bowl of icy water for 10-15 seconds to stop the cooking and keep the bright green color. Then drain and place on a serving dish.
- In a small pan over medium heat, warm the butter and olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Season with salt to taste.
- Drizzle the garlic and oil mixture over the broccolini and toss gently to coat.
- Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
- Serve immediately as a delicious side dish alongside your favorite main course.
Notes
Refer to the post above for video instructions and other useful information. Nutrition information is an estimate and will depend on your specific ingredients. I usually buy broccolini at Trader Joe's, and they are sold there as baby broccoli. You might find them at other stores in the produce section. I like mixing butter and olive oil because butter adds a rich and creamy flavor. However, if butter isn't your preferred option, using 3 tablespoons of olive oil instead is a simple alternative. Feel free to add a touch of Parmesan cheese to your steamed broccoletti, or if you prefer a bit of heat, sprinkle some red pepper flakes or chili flakes for an extra kick.
