Tropical Crisscross Chicken (Edit recipe)

A few simple criss cross cuts with a sprinkle of our TROPICAL FURIKAKE SPICE BLEND  and you’re on your way to a whole new way to enjoy chicken. The edges of all those criss cross cuts get crisp as it bakes. The exposed crevices of chicken mean more flavor from all the tastiness in the spice blend. Once it’s all baked and cooled slightly, you can pull it apart with your fingers or simply slice and serve. Great for salads, rice bowls or even for snacking on. A meal prepping wonder!

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Lay chicken down on a flat surface and with a sharp knife make diagonal cuts about an inch apart one direction, about half way through the breast. Turn slightly and make cuts going the other direction. Repeat with all pieces of chicken.
  2. Use your fingers to spread apart the cuts and sprinkle with about 1 tbsp (varies depending on the size) of the spice blend, rubbing into all the crevices. Don’t forget to also turn over and rub into the back of the breast. Repeat with other pieces of chicken.
  3. Spritz each breast with avocado oil, rubbing to coat the entire surface area, front and back.
  4. Place in an airtight container and allow to “marinate” for a few hours. Alternatively you can certainly bake after coating. It’s simply a personal preference.
  5. When ready to bake, prepare your air fryer* according to the manufacturer's directions, preheating to 400° and baking for 12-15 minutes. Remove from the air fryer, flip and finish baking for 5-8 minutes or until internal temperature is approximately 155°-160°.
  6. Remove and allow to "rest" and cool slightly before separating into sections using your fingers to shred or cut into cubes.. Use right away or place chicken in an airtight container and use as needed for salads, rice bowls or snacking.

Notes

*To bake in your conventional oven, preheat to 400° and place chicken on a baking rack on top of a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, flip and finish baking. until internal temperature is 155°-160°. Remove and allow to "rest" before cutting.
