Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. Preheat your oven to 350F
  2. Bring 8 cups of water to a boil and place your pasta in the boiling water
  3. Cook pasta according to the directions, then strain and set aside
  4. Meanwhile, heat the oil/butter over medium heat in a skillet
  5. Add in the chopped onion and cook for 8-10 minutes or until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant
  6. Add in the dairy free cream, seasonings, bay leaf and 1/4 cup powdered cheese mix
  7. Bring to a simmer for a few minutes and then remove from heat
  8. Remove the bay leaf and pour the cheese mixture into the reserved pasta
  9. Spoon 1/2 the pasta mixture into a casserole dish. If you are going to use cheese slices, layer four of them on top of 1/2 the pasta
  10. Then spoon the remaining pasta mixture in and place the other four slices of cheese on top
  11. Bake for 30 minutes and then remove from the oven, sprinkle the crushed potato chips on top and serve warm
