Dave’s Guac (Edit recipe)

Among our friends and family, my husband Dave has earned quite the reputation for his legendary guacamole! It's the kind of dish that's crafted with love, not strict measurements. Yet, with each batch he whips up, it somehow manages to surpass the last in deliciousness. Consider the measurements in this recipe as mere suggestions and feel free to tweak anything to your liking. While there are countless ways to make guacamole, this is Dave's tried & true version.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 Avocado, diced
  • 1 Tomato, large, diced
  • 1/2 Red Onion, finely diced
  • 1-2 Jalapeño, diced, seeds & ribs removed
  • 2 cloves Garlic, grated
  • 1/2 cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 Lime, juice and zest
  • 1 tsp Salt, adjust to taste

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced avocados, grated garlic, salt, lime juice, and lime zest. Avoid mashing the avocados until these ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  2. Gently mash everything together until mostly smooth with some small avocado chunks remaining.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, jalapenos, and chopped cilantro to the bowl. Gently fold these ingredients into the mashed avocado mixture until evenly distributed. Give it a taste and adjust with more salt or lime juice if needed.
  4. For garnish, if desired, reserve some of the diced tomatoes, onions, and cilantro to sprinkle over the top before serving.
  5. Serve the guacamole with your favorite dippers and enjoy!

Notes

To ensure uniform distribution and prevent browning, it's ideal to add grated garlic, lime juice, and salt to diced avocados in a bowl before mashing them. This step should be taken immediately after dicing the avocados, ensuring that the flavors are well incorporated and the avocados retain their freshness.
