Five Minute Dairy-Free Salted Caramel
This decadent caramel sauce is so easy to make, and is completely free of dairy! Perfect for those on a plant-based diet, and those with dairy-allergies, but if you are not dairy-free you will love this recipe as well! It has the taste and consistency of traditional caramel, and is perfect drizzled over cakes, brownies, and ice cream!

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- In a small sauce pot, combine the brown sugar, plant butter, vanilla extract, coconut cream, and salt.
- Heat the pot over medium heat, and start to stir the ingredients together as they all melt.
- The caramel should quickly come to a bubble. Continue to whisk as the caramel cooks for 3-5 minutes. At this point it should coat the back of a spoon.
- Remove the sauce from the heat, and allow it to cool, and then transfer it to a jar. It will become thicker as it cools.
- Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for a week or so. You will need to warm the caramel up once it has been refrigerated, but it will be easy to scoop out of the jar.
Notes
I like to use the small cans of coconut cream for this recipe. There is still water in the cans of coconut cream, so you want to make sure you don't pour all of the contents of the can into your pot. You want to avoid getting any of the coconut water into the caramel. Only scoop the thick cream out of the can to use in the caramel.
