Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Pre-heat oven to 400°F, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set Aside.
- Brown the ground beef until no longer pink, then add the taco seasoning (homemade) and 1/4 cup of water. Or use directions on the taco seasoning package. Simmer for a few minutes to blend the flavors.
- While the ground beef is cooking, chop the tomatoes, onions, cilantro, avocados, jalapeños, and shred the lettuce.
- Grab the baking sheet and add a light layer of the tortilla chips.
- Top tortilla chips lightly with cheese, some ground beef, some beans, and a bit of salsa.
- Continue to layer chips, cheese, beef, beans, salsa until you run out of meat and beans. Then top final layer with tortillas and cheese.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Top with the tomatoes, onions, cilantro, avocados, lettuce, etc.
- You can dollop sour cream, avocado/guacamole on top of the veggies or serve it on the side.
Notes
To reduce quantities 1lb of ground beef will feed approximately 3-4 people. If you like a lot of cheese use 2 8 oz packages. I use homemade taco seasoning which is 3 tbsp, if you are using a store bought package then follow package instructions.
