open-faced tuna melt (Edit recipe)

ooey, gooey, melty cheese. no more BORING tuna melts around here. mix your can of tuna with a sauce, some delicious add-ins (I listed some of my favorite things to add), & throw some cheese on top. all stacked on top of my homemade grain-free bread (or a gluten-free bread of choice)… easy, peasy, protein-packed, & flavor stacked lunch!

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. in a small bowl, combine greek yogurt dressing (whichever variation you want to follow) + tuna & any add-ins you like (I listed a few combos in the notes).
  2. option to warm in microwave for 30-60 seconds.
  3. to a slice of bread, add tuna mixture & top with cheese.
  4. add tuna melt to a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes to “toast” bottom of bread, then add a lid to the skillet to melt the cheese.
  5. serve with your favorite veggies, potato chips, or whatever side sounds good!

Notes

tuna melt inspo: (the variations are endless!)

buffalo ranch - add in buffalo sauce to ranch + fold in sautéed veggies & avocado + top with pepper jack cheese

caesar - fold in romaine lettuce, tomatoes, & prosciutto + top with parmesan

honey mustard - add in bacon, jalapeño, & green onions + top with gouda cheese

creamy italian - add in peperoncinis, giardineria, & salami + top with feta cheese
