Slow Cooker Brisket
This is a Southern style brisket cooked in the slow cooker. Using the slow cooker provides a moist and versatile brisket with very little effort. Of course, you can totally use a BBQ if desired, just be sure to cook it on low heat (about 250 degrees) for at least 6 hours, internal temp should be 185 degrees.
When the brisket is done you can make a variety of dishes: serve with rice and veggies, serve on nachos, put it in tacos, or on a salad. Whatever you choose to do it will be delicious. Enjoy

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- In a small bowl mix all of the rub ingredients tougher and stir to combine.
- Rub the mix over all sides of the brisket, be sure to push firmly so it sticks.
- Heat up the Instant Pot on Sauté (or a large skillet on the stove) and pour the oil in.
- Sauté the brisket for about 5 minutes per side to get a nice browning.
- If using an Instant Pot: add the broth and turn the dial on slow cook for 6-8 hours.
- If using a skillet: once done with the browning move the brisket into the slow cooker, add the broth, and cook for 6-8 hours.
- After it cooks slice the brisket against the grain in thin pieces.
- For the BBQ sauce put all ingredients into small bowl and stir well to combine. Taste and increase heat with more hot sauce if desired. Or, for more sweetness add another tbsp of honey.
Notes
I like to turn the meat every 2 hours, this ensures a moist brisket. This recipe also works well with a pork butt roast.
