Fall is calling and so is this apple pie stuffed French toast. Wow your family with this delicious and sweet breakfast.

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. In a bowl or container with a flat bottom add almond milk and heavy whipping cream
  2. In a separate bowl whisk together 2 eggs then pour into the milk mixture
  3. In a small bowl add your brown sugar, apple pie spice, vanilla extract and cinnamon sugar spice
  4. Mix this together then add to the milk mixture and mix again. This step helps the sugars and spices not to float to the top
  5. Grab one slice of sourdough bread and spread 3 tbsp of cold apple pie compote (see recipe) and place another slice of bread on top pushing it together
  6. In a large pan add 1 tbsp of butter and allow it to melt and bubble
  7. I personally like to cut the crust off of the bread and allow it to soak up the mixture so once it cooks it acts as a seal to keep the filling in
  8. Soak each side of the bread in the milk mixture for about 20 seconds each side
  9. Using a spatula place the French toast gently in the pan. Allow it to cook without being flipped for 6-7 minutes
  10. Flip to the other flat side for 6-7 minutes
  11. Lastly use your hands to stand up the French toast where the crust would be and cook for 3-4 minutes
  12. Cut diagonal and allow to rest
  13. Repeat for additional servings adding in more butter as needed
  14. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  15. Place French toast on a pan and cook for an additional 5 minutes for the perfect crunch
  16. Top with powdered sugar and even an additional sprinkle of apple pie spice and cinnamon sugar spice.
