Apple Cinnamon Compote
This Apple Cinnamon Compote is so delicious on so many things from breakfast to dessert! It is the perfect accompaniment to pork, pancakes, waffles, toast, yogurt, ice cream or right out of the jar with a big ole spoon! It is the perfect amount of sweet with a touch of savory and so quick and easy to make. It is so yummy with some yogurt and my Cinnamon Granola!
Ingredients
- 2 whole2 whole2 whole Apple, Granny Smith, large or 3 smaller ones
- 0.25 cup0.25 cup0.25 cup Shallot, peeled and diced fine
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Ghee, I like Fourth & Heart
- 1 whole1 whole1 whole Lemon, juiced
- 10 oz10 oz10 oz Apple Cinnamon Spread, I like St. DalFour
- 0.5 tsp0.5 tsp0.5 tsp Salt
- 0.25 tsp0.25 tsp0.25 tsp Ginger, Ground
- 0.5 tsp0.5 tsp0.5 tsp Nutmeg, Ground
- 0.5 tsp0.5 tsp0.5 tsp Allspice, Ground
Process
Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Peel, core and dice your apples
- Peel the shallot and dice it fine
- Juice the lemon
- Melt the ghee in a skillet
- Add shallot and cook 2 minutes
- Add apples, fruit spread, lemon juice and spices, stirring well to combine
- Cook till apples soften and the compote thickens
- Enjoy!
