Micheladas (Edit recipe)

If there's one drink that reminds me of summer, it's a michelada. This recipe has been a staple at my family's carne asadas for as long as I can remember. Whether we're celebrating, cooling off on a hot day, or simply spending time together, this is usually the drink we're craving. You can make it with or without alcoholic beer, but trust me when I tell you it's refreshing! This is my big batch recipe, adjust it to your liking. PS, if your family calls it a red beer, you're in the right place. Provecho amigos!

Process

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
  1. In a pitcher, combine the Clamato, fresh lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, Salsa Maggi (if using), Tabasco, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well combined.
  2. Prepare your glasses by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim. Dip the rim into Tajín until evenly coated.
  3. Fill each glass with ice.
  4. Pour the prepared michelada mix about halfway to two-thirds full.
  5. Slowly top with your favorite Mexican beer and gently stir to combine.
  6. Garnish with a fresh lime wedge and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Fresh lime juice makes all the difference. Skip the bottled juice if possible.
  • Adjust the Tabasco to make it as mild or spicy as you like.
  • Salsa Maggi adds a deeper savory flavor, but the recipe is still delicious without it.
  • Chill both the Clamato and beer before serving so your drink stays cold without watering down.
  • Light Mexican lagers work best, but your favorite light beer works just as well.
    • Non-alcoholic beers or sparkling water taste delicious as well!
