Checkerboard Caprese with Chili Crisp
This isn’t your basic basil-and-balls Caprese. We spiced things up with a checkerboard twist and a bold drizzle of Spice Witch Chili Crisp. It’s juicy, crunchy, and just the right amount of chaos.
Ingredients
- 1 pint1 pint1 pint Cherry Tomatoes, halved (heirloom if you can)
- 8 oz8 oz8 oz Mozzarella, fresh, sliced or pearls
- 1 bunch1 bunch1 bunch Basil, Fresh, leaves

- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Spice Witch Original Chili Crisp, 1 to 2 tbsp
- 1 pinch1 pinch1 pinch Sea Salt, flaky

- 1 pinch1 pinch1 pinch Black Pepper, freshly cracked

- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Organic Balsamic Glaze, optional

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Slice and prep: halve the tomatoes. Slice the mozzarella or use pearls.
- Make the grid: alternate tomatoes and mozzarella on a square board like a checkerboard.
- Tuck basil leaves between the squares, or stack them on top.
- Sprinkle with flaky salt and cracked pepper, then drizzle Spice Witch Chili Crisp over the whole board. Don’t hold back.
- Optional: finish with a swirl of balsamic glaze.
