Easy Garlic & Herb Fried Boursin Bites
If you love cheese and the concept of an arancini, you'll love these! With the new year quickly approaching, I've been busy recipe testing some new ideas on what to serve guests. I came up with these cheese bites - a play of the classic frozen mozzarella sticks packed with flavour.
Ingredients
- 2 cups2 cups2 cups Gluten Free Italian Bread Crumbs
- 2 whole2 whole2 whole Eggs
- 1 whole1 whole1 whole Dairy-Free Garlic & Herb Spread - Boursin, (I used the 425g pack)
- 1 cup1 cup1 cup Caciocavallo Cheese, (Grated)
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Salt and Pepper
- 2 cups2 cups2 cups Vegetable Oil

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Heat your choice of frying oil in a small pot (oil is ready for frying when you place a few breadcrumbs inside and they crisp nicely)
- Prepare a baking tray and a wire wrack on the tray close to your oven (setting up your frying station)
- In a large bowl, add your Boursin cheese spread, salt, pepper and Caciocavallo cheese and set aside
- In a small bowl, add your eggs and whisk, set aside
- In another small bowl, add your breadcrumbs and set aside
- With a cookie scooper, begin to measure out your mixture of Boursin cheese into even balls and shape them as round as you can, set them aside on a large tray or plate
- Once all balls are roll, begin by dunking them into the egg mixture, followed by the breadcrumbs and place them back on your tray
- Once all balls are coated, begin frying
- Allow to cool slightly on the wire wrack and serve
- Enjoy!
Notes
I highly recommend flash freezing and maybe even double coating them if you want them to hold their circular shape. This recipe makes 18 bites. Depending on which ice cream scoop you use to shape your bites, they could be smaller and you could end up with more this way.
