Sauerkraut & Smoky Jackfruit “Jerky” Loaded Hot Dogs
A Father's Day crowd-pleaser featuring juicy grilled hot dogs piled high with tangy sauerkraut, smoky jackfruit jerky strips, diced onions, and a sharp mustard drizzle.
Ingredients
- 4 whole4 whole4 whole Beef Hot Dogs, or bratwursts (or vegan sausages)

- 4 whole4 whole4 whole Brioche Bread, hot dog buns
- 400 grams400 grams400 grams Jackfruit, young green jackfruit in brine, drained and rinsed
- 3 Tbsp3 Tbsp3 Tbsp Soy Sauce, or tamari

- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp Liquid Smoke, Hickory
- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 0.5 tsp0.5 tsp0.5 tsp Garlic Powder

- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 3 Tbsp3 Tbsp3 Tbsp Brown Mustard Seed, spicy brown or whole grain mustard
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Olive Oil

- - Make the jerky marinade
- Whisk together soy sauce, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, garlic powder, maple syrup, and apple cider vinegar. Pat the jackfruit dry, shred into strips, and toss in the marinade.
- - Marinate the jackfruit
- Let marinate for at least 20 minutes or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- - Bake the jerky
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread jackfruit on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25–27 minutes, flipping halfway through, until caramelized and slightly chewy.
- - Grill the sausages
- Grill hot dogs, bratwursts, or vegan sausages over medium-high heat for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally. Toast buns for about 1 minute.
- - Assemble & serve
- Place a sausage in each bun. Top with sauerkraut, smoky jackfruit jerky strips, diced onion, and mustard. Serve immediately and enjoy!
